AMAZING! I cannot believe our good fortune in finding Antica Fonte given the abundance of hotels, agriturismos and other types of accommodations in Italy. It is my hope that my words will convince you to stay at Antica Fonte for so many more reasons than I can name. Antica Fonte is in beautiful Umbria, basically at the foot of the hilltop town of Assisi. The town is spiritual, beautiful and clean. When entering the property at Antica Fonte, you are immediately met with the beauty of the place. The owner, Paolo, has taken his passion for plants, flowers and gardening and produced beauty for all to take in. The structure holding the suites and the home of Paolo and Daniela, was transformed from virtual ruin approximately 25-30 years ago by Paolo’s father. The work over the years has culminated in a property boasting beautiful studios and suites along with its side-buildings. It is illuminated at night, beginning at the driveway to the building and includes lighting of underground portions of the beginning of tunnels that once found their way to Assisi. Did I mention the view of Assisi from Antica Fonte? So beautiful! Everywhere one looks you can take in the serenity and beauty of the property which is clearly a labor of love for this couple. The suites are pretty, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The bathroom was spacious. We had a wardrobe for our clothes and assorted travel storage. Paolo spoiled us by providing us with daily treats. He was available to answer many of our questions about history or travel routes. We, two couples, felt we were treated as though we were part of the family and were sad to have to say goodbye when it was time to move to our next destination. It is our hope that many people choose to stay at Antica Fonte and discover the treasures I mentioned. The shining star for us was Paolo who enriched our experience ten-fold.

I wish I could get them 20. Such a wonderful, comfortable, beautiful place, such a great owners! Daniella and Paolo - the nicest people ever. Pretty awesome garden, so good to sit with wine. Assisi is very close, in fact - walking distance. Still - you feel like it is countryside. Queer, great view, cosy rooms and best towels ever :) I hope I'll be back.

Paolo and Danielle was very kind. It was a just beautiful property. Pretty garden and quiet and nice environment. Location was very good to visit basilica st. Francisco. Highly recommended.

Lovely hosts and beautiful room with a pretty garden to relax in. Very near Assisi and other beautiful old places like Spello, Spoleto, Trevi and Gubbio. We enjoyed our stay. Echte aanrader!

Andrea Bonetti contacted us before we arrived to check on our arrival time and dinner plans. He was the consummate host and answered all of our questions and took care of all of our requests while we were there. He made our stay just perfect! The property itself is beautiful and well-maintained with huge grassy yards and a nice pool. The kids enjoyed exploring and running all around the property. It is also relatively close to several nice areas and we were able to make day trips to Sienna, Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. We will definitely come here again!

We will remember Antica Fonte forever. This renovated farmhouse is only five minutes away from Assisi, but it is complete secluded, peaceful and calming, with views that go on in every direction. The most magnificent gardens, courtesy of Paolo, who has a passion for plants and flowers - and boy, does it show! Every corner, every pot, every direction you look in there is something beautiful which he has planted, or tended. Daniela, equally kind and warm, was a wonderful welcome as well. From that first espresso offered, to morning pastries that would be offered at the door of the unit, there is something so kind about these two individuals. These were people we would have loved to just hang out with and get to know because there is a true genuineness in their welcome. You feel like you are visiting friends when you stay here and that is a big part of the memories of this place. That, and those gardens!The two bedroom unit is certainly very comfortable, and the kitchenette has every amenity you could want - but who wants to stay indoors when you have the many terraces and garden areas to wonder about our lounge in? We lost count of the number and type of different plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, vines and you can simply tell so much love has gone into preservation of this plot of land and making it be as beautiful as it is by a master gardener. One truly feels happy sitting on this terrace, looking over the Umbrian countryside and flowers, listening to the stream below, and the many many birds that seem to never stop chirping-- wondering what life could be like in a spot like this, day in and day out. A truly magical stay with literally zero negatives - we cannot recommend this place enough. It sounds cliche, but it was a bit of heaven.
